Just saw these Irons pop up over the holiday weekend. They were going for $250-$300. They look identical to the Covert 2.0s from last year but they don't have the '2.0' on them. I called Golfsmith and they said sometimes a company re-releases the same set but under a different name, but he was un sure. I wasn't convinced and called Nike Golf. The rep I spoke to said they only made 2 versions of the coverts, the originals and the 2.0, and said Golfsmith must have made a typo. Anyhow, it just seems odd, anyone else know anything about these?

They are legitimate clubs, same manufacturer, same materials, just minor modifications (2.0 not on club). It was a popular model that they re-released under the name of the Covert 16's, similar to the N14s etc, but not with cheaper materials. A lot of times companies make clubs just for retailers, that are basically the same but made with cheaper materials. Callaway makes the X series N415, which are basically the original X hots made cheaper. Cobra made the Amp-D a couple years ago for Dick's, same situation ( basically the Amp irons, but in black instead of orange and cheaper materials). In fact, I think, don't quote me on this, but I think that the companies don't even make these models, the retailers have a contract where they can basically cheaply clone the irons and stamp the company's name and graphics on them with a different model number.

So, most likely Nike would have no clue what you are talking about, or that these exist. I don't know how they perform compared to the original clubs, I don't imagine they are as good.

But, for the price I suppose they are Ok • • • •. I have hit them many times! I absolutely love them, but I will confess that I am not a great golfer, and have only ever hit one other set to compare with. That being said, they are far more forgiving then my old Nike CCI forged Irons.
